We sell predominantly “gently used” furniture and also some new furniture. All items are inspected before they arrive at our store to ensure they are clean, and in good repair. Every effort is made to accept only the best quality pieces available and maintain competitive pricing. We strive for great furniture and accessories that are unique. Our show rooms are brightly lit with the furniture nicely arranged. Our sales staff are helpful,  informative and can often give decorating hints. We are the experts in furniture “recycling” or matching customers swapping out their furniture for a new look. Shop often as our inventory is constantly changing with new additions daily. We strive for repeat costumers looking for value and excitement in finding that “special” piece. Delivery is available at a nominal fee.

Our prices are determined jointly with the consignor and take into consideration the style, condition, brand name and original purchase price. Bargain hunter’s will find much value in our inventory. The great majority of our items sell within one month and thus if you hesitate you may lose out to another buyer.

Customer service is our highest priority. Furniture phases is the largest consignment store in the valley. While this certainly gives you the best selection of inventory, we still strive for the small business feel where every customer is important. If we do not have your specific item we also have a “request list.”  When your item does arrive you will receive telephone notification. This allows you first chance at getting

Our inventory comes from individual homes, estate sales and furniture store close out items. Items requiring repair are not accepted. We sell to individuals or institutions. Our furniture is only gently used meaning the items will be clean and as close to new as possible. Shop with the confidence that we have done all the leg work and taken the time to make your experience as convenient as possible.

Selling your items through Furniture Phases is easy and very productive. You will direct the process and then we will do the work for you. Shoppers come to our store, not to your home. No risk of missed appointments, wasted time with hagglers, security worries or risk of bad checks. Through our established stores, nice showrooms, newspaper ads, internet showroom, and experienced sales people we have developed a large clientele that gets items sold quicker and at higher prices than possible with newspaper ads.

We take most items on consignment (owner receives 50% of selling price), however in special cases we will outright buy your furniture. If your furniture is less than 3 years of age and in like new condition we can often complete the process with one phone call. Items 3 -10 years of age are welcome as well, however an appraisal interview will be suggested so that you can be pre-approved for your items. Older items may be accepted in special situations. The appraisal interview is conducted professionally, at no obligation to you and at no cost to you. During this interview your items will be reviewed, and the suggested selling price clearly stated. This selling price takes into account the item, the seller’s expectations,  the furniture market, and the goal to try and sell the item within 30 days. If terms are agreeable then your items are pre-appoved for placement in our store. The great majority of our items if priced appropriately do sell within 30 days. If your item or items have not sold after 60 days they can be kept for an additional 30 days however often it is requested the price be reduced. If the item(s) still do not sell than you may pick the item up or request that they  be donated to charity. A contract will be signed clearly explaining this process.

You have several options to get your pre-approved items to the store. You may bring them yourself on any day/time we are open, or we can bring them in an SUV- often at no additional charge, or you can arrange pickup for a nominal fee. The best option depends on your time frame and the size of your items. During your appraisal interview these options and the details of their costs will be further discussed.

On store arrival your pre-approved items will be inspected for final approval. We reserve the right to refuse items pending this inspection. Once items are accepted they will be placed in the store with good visibility, priced and entered into our records. There will be some minimal paperwork to set up an account. Once an account is set up, if you so desire, additional items can be brought in for selling- again pending appraisal and final inspection. After your items are sold you receive a check for your proceeds.

Delivery and Pickup is available through several independent vendors. There is a nominal fee that is definitely lower than the standard delivery rates. Furniture Phases does not make any money on these delivery fees.

The delivery fees are determined by a preset schedule that depends on the distance traveled, how many items there are and other complexities. You will know what the delivery charges are before we show up at your door.  We often have customers selling their old furniture and buying new furniture. In this situation it is very cost effective if the two delivery trips can be coordinated to the same time and thus saving in the delivery fees. The delivery person will expect payment at time of delivery.

We have found delivery people that are flexible in scheduling appointments that fit your needs. You can feel reassured that the delivery person will be reliable, courteous with you and treat your furniture with respect.

Home decor items have been popular. We have done well at selling  pictures, lamps, clocks, mirrors, rugs and other home decor items in perfect condition. It is easy to get these items into our store. These smaller items do not require  pre-approval. To start the process, please call us first, and set up a mutually agreeable time to meet in the store. Then bring the items to us and we will go through them to discuss pricing and the potential of selling them. Remember, items need to be in perfect working condition. Items that are not accepted include appliances and personal hygiene items such as towels or sheets. Occassionally we have made exceptions for small

pleasant shopping experience.

Furniture Phases is  truly large enough to meet all your decorating needs whether large or small! We have the largest combined showrooms in the Fox Valley and are constantly striving to keep them stocked with unique, desirable items.

An exciting addition to our store has been Tammy, our in house floral designer. She has many of her arrangements  displayed throughout our store and all are reasonably priced. She also designs beautiful seasonal floral arrangements. Currently on display include centerpieces, and wall hanging pieces of different sizes using silk flowers.

Appraisals are an important part of the process. This service is provided for free, however the benefits to you are significant. Scheduling of the appraisal is flexible. We come to your house, view your items, talk pricing strategies and discuss our procedures. The whole concept allows you to meet us and realize our commitment to selling your items while maximizing your dollars and convenience.

Selling furniture is not easy. Some of our customers have tried ads and realize the problems involved. Deciding on a price, paying for ads, scheduling viewings and matching buyers with sellers can be frustrating. We make the whole process easy. The furniture market has undergone several changes recently. Strong competition and foreign products have resulted in lower prices.

We know which items sell and for how much.

There are some items we do not accept. These include pieces with broken or missing hardware. Stained items. Entertainment centers should hold at least a 40” unit. We do accept antiques however our pricing is going to be less than antique stores and if you have a true antique you would do better at a dedicated antique store. Upholstered items need to be clean with little wear, no fading and no odor. Please no pet hair or tears. We do not take waterbeds.

The whole process goes very quickly.  If you have short  time constraints such as an impending move or need to sell estate quickly we can handle those situations. To sell your items we invest significant money into advertising, we are often running promotions and we staff with  professional sales people. Larger items will be placed on our website for increased visibility.

Furniture Phases is a dynamic small business owned by Marcia Davis. She started a clothes consignment business 10 years ago, which she has since sold and has been constantly building the furniture consignment business for over five years. Marcia has been involved in customer service type businesses her whole career and strongly believes in being responsive, service with a smile, and keeping her customers happy.

The business has been constantly growing and with our dedicated employees Marcia plans on continuing this business for many years. Several of Marcia’s employees have been in the furniture business for years offering in depth experience. Several of the employees have worked as interior designers which can help in your furniture selections and accessorizing.  While staying true to our consignment store beginnings we also offer some new furniture. The new furniture offerings are reasonable cost items supplementing our used inventory. We want to be the first choice for buyers and sellers of unique used furniture and home decor.
